History

The Owners are Brett and Danelle Weaver of Sartell, MN.  Brett and Danelle met while volunteering for the MN Fightin’ Scots semi-pro football team at a St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce function.  Brett was the General Manager at the time and Danelle was the Cheer Captain.  When the Scots disbanded, Brett and Danelle decided that once they started a family they would indenture of building their own football franchise.  In September of the 2009 the Renegades were officially created.  Brett is currently employed by Companions Animal Hospital as their Practice Manager  Danelle is a RN through CentraCare.    They are proud parents of three boys, Landon (8) and Raider (5) , and Major (2).

In 2011, the Renegades completed their inaugural season, and closed it out as a success.  The Renegades finished the season at 1-6-1 and with no issues on any level.  Completing one of their main goals, to set the new standards in semi-pro (minor league) football.  On top of good business ethics both on and off the field, the Renegades organization completed multiple internships with St. Cloud State, St. John's, and St. Ben's college.  The organization had almost 800 fans in their four home games and that is being rained out at half of them!  At our home games we gave away over 2,800 giveaway items valued at over $50,000!

In 2012, the Renegades finished the season making it to the 1st round of the playoffs, having their 1st shutout, and increased their # of wins by 400%!  The Renegades had almost 1,000 fans this year and gave away another $50,000+ in giveaways.  The Renegades will continue with their values and missions for the rest of 2012 and prepare for the 2013 season this fall.

In 2013, the Renegades made history again finishing for the first time over .500.  With a 5-4 Overall record and a 5-2 Division Record.  The Renegades were also crowned West Division Champions making it to the semi-finals. Anthony Carpenter, a 3 year veteran, was awarded a third year to the All Star team as well.  The Renegades had a few more 1st's as well; such as hosting their 1st ever night game at St. John's University, beating the Brainerd Lumberjacks (twice), and hosting their first playoff game in team history.  Even though the Renegades were one game short of going to the Premier Bowl, doesn't mean the season wasn't a success.  It adds fuel to the fire for the 2014 season!

In 2014, the Renegades had high hopes entering their 4th season and winning a Division Championship, but bring plagued with injuries the team struggled to get the ball rolling and ended the season losing to the MPFL Champions, Fargo Invaders, in the playoffs ending the season in 4th place.  The organization did have some bright spots as the team did improve its game day plans with a youth camp, a record setting fundraiser with the American Cancer Society, and laid the foundation of a long term relationship with the Big Brothers Big Sister program.  The 2015 season will mark our 5th Anniversary, and we have some big plans so stay tuned!

The 2014 and 2015 season were not records ones to brag about as they both ended in 3-5 records, but the hurdles the team had to overcome speak volumes of the character of the players involved with the team.  Plagued by family deaths, job changes, and serious injuries the Renegades never gave up!  Making the playoffs in 2014 and losing in the last minute to the Invaders and then again falling to the Broncos in 2015, the Renegades are on the tip of something big.  The 2016 season will begin with open tryouts on October 3rd, 2015.

The Renegades will continue being active with local non-profit organizations, offering internships to local universities, and help develop young men and women into our community leaders for years to come.  Show your Renegades spirit and pride, by speaking our name and wearing your Renegades colors!  Keep your eye on us as we become an icon in the sports industry and put the area on the national map!
